I have not been a huge baseball fan but seeing all the Facebook post regarding the Cubs. I wanted to see what all the hype was. I realized Joe Maddon manages the Cubs similar to how I manage my ACT and tutoring business.
5 Quotes Joe Maddon
1. “In our world, for me, every day is Friday night.” Students who didn’t get the grade or score he/she hoped for, doesn’t mean you stop enjoying life. Along with my staff, I want students to enjoy life and not stress about one test.
2. “I don’t want us to become outcome-biased or outcome-based,” Maddon continued, “Yes, talk about playoffs. Yes, talk about winning the division. Yes, talk about playing the last game of the season and winning it. But you don’t want to just get caught up in that thought. It’s how do you do that? “
My goal is for each of one of my students to process their score/grade and understand why they got the score or grade and how they can improve,so they reach their true potential.
3. “Don’t ever permit the pressure to exceed the pleasure.” The ACT is long and stressful, and preparing should be engaging and meaningful. The goal for my staff is to coach students. When students are prepared and relaxed they will achieve their true learning potential.

4. “Respect 90.” Maddon referring to players go hard for 90 feet, and the respect will come back. The fans will witness it as well. He wants them to visual it in their minds. I I believe students can push to reach their desired ACT score or academic goal, and he/she will reap from the benefits. Opportunities they never thought possible become available. Also, students should not just think about it but visually their score. In conclusion, students who hustle and are provided the right tools can reach their true learning potential.
5. “I don’t like it. I love it.” My passion is for students success and I don’t just like helping students but I love seeing them succeed in school and life.
6. “You have to have a little bit of crazy to be successful. I want crazy in the clubhouse every day. You need to be crazy to be great. I love crazy. I tell my players that all the time. “
I would not be able to relate to all levels and ages of students and be able to create an ACT course that fits all learning styles without being able to think differently.
Bonus Quote:
“I just think it’s very important to celebrate.” Whether if my student or academic coaches have success, I make it a big deal. Every child needs a cheerleader and help them celebrate even the small wins. The small wins build up for the MAIN event.
In conclusion, Joe Maddon is an amazing manager and the Cubs winning the 2016 World Series is well deserved. Click here to view more about Joe Maddon.
